Polyvagal Approach

Restore the nervous system back to a settled, peaceful and grounded state of being.

The Polyvagal Theory helps us to understand from a physiological perspective what is happening inside ourselves.

We experience life through our nervous system. It informs the ways that we think, feel and behave. Imagine when you are taking a walk in nature or spending time with loving people there is a knowing that you are safe and connected. On the other hand, if you experience distress, fear or a traumatic experience, your body will react to keep you safe and manage what’s happening by fighting, fleeing, freezing or fixing.

When we can understand what is happening inside of us from this perspective it helps to inform us where we are living from and how to best care for ourselves.

The Polyvagal Theroy utilizes different practices to help restore the nervous system to a settled, peaceful and grounded state of being. These practices include visualizations, breathing techniques, self-reflections and meditations.
